The reconstructed Plukon site in Wezep, the Netherlands officially became operational on Friday, May 25, marking a new stage for this state-of-the-art production site. The new site was designed with Plukon’s ambitious plans for the future in mind.
After parts of the Wezep site were destroyed by a major fire on 24 March 2017 and the building could no longer be salvaged, production operations were outsourced, and the production facility was demolished and completely redesigned and rebuilt.
The new building meets the strictest requirements for sustainability, efficiency and food safety. For one, the plant has a BREAAM® (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) score of 5 stars (‘Excellent’), which means it complies with the highest sustainability standards for its construction.
