Plukon Food Group has released its 2023 CSR report, titled ‘Think Fresh. Act Fresh. Make Fresh.’ This report reflects our commitment to providing millions of European consumers with healthy, affordable, and responsibly sourced food products while prioritizing the long-term needs of animals, the environment, and people.
Despite challenges such as inflation and geopolitical tensions, Plukon remained focused on its mission to deliver responsibly produced food across Europe. In 2023, Plukon took further steps to integrate sustainability into its operations.
A notable highlight from the past year was the acquisition of Ter Maten Holding B.V., which strengthened Plukon’s position in Europe and enhanced the poultry processing value chain. Furthermore, the implementation of the Atlas animal welfare supply system at our Blokker site in the Netherlands was successfully completed, and securing a sustainability-linked loan integrated sustainability into financial strategies. Plukon underwent important leadership changes as well. Kees Kraijenoord has succeeded Peter Poortinga as CEO after his 22-year tenure, and Johan Roijmans was welcomed as the new CFO.
Looking ahead, Plukon remains committed to reducing its ecological footprint, decreasing energy and water consumption, and enhancing food safety. Transparency and accountability will play a crucial role in these efforts, particularly with the upcoming regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
