The rise of plant-based foods is a global trend. This is good news, as it helps us to keep our planet a viable place to live. At Plukon, we recognize the importance of protecting our planet and contributing to a more sustainable food system. For this reason, we are continuously researching the application of alternative proteins and actively working on the development and introduction of new products based on these promising and innovative ingredients.

Our Beliefs

The world is transforming! By 2050 people will eat differently than today. And the change is already happening. We believe the future of foods is built around five key pillars: Health, Sustainability, Convenience, Affordability and Indulgence. As a convenience meals supplier we want to support and accelerate this transformation. We know that transformations need shifts. And let the Protein Shift be the single most important for the years to come.

We know what is needed for our planet and its inhabitants: less CO2 emissions, less land usage, less water usage and healthier foods. To accomplish this, we need to fundamentally change what proteins we eat. Consuming more alternative-to-animal proteins is one of the solutions. And a big chunk are the alternative-to-meat proteins in particular. But we have a problem: the current alternative-to-meat products are not picking up as big and as fast as they should. Current products are not as tasty and healthy as they should be. And that is where Plukon food group comes in!

Where we play

If we want the protein shift to accelerate, we need focus and a winning value proposition. Plukon food group will focus on the alternative-to-meat category by offering end products and services in Blended meats and Meat substitutes. These products will also be used in our Convenience meals and sold separately as Meal Components. The Blended meats will be produced in our further processing plants in the different countries. The Meat substitutes will be produced in our dedicated vegan location ‘Plukon Udenhout’.  As in Poultry, Convenience meals and Meal Components we remain predominantly a private label specialist. From our expertise in these categories we can build this specific category with our partners for our conscious consumers.

Our assortment

We now start our journey by offering meat replacers and blended meat products that are close to the poultry category. In meat replacers we can already offer a full range of breaded and crispy products. Our nuggets or (filled) breaded schnitzel are only two examples. We also offer a range of natural and marinated products, as well as minces, cold eats and deli cuts. The goal is to offer end products that mimic the majority of the poultry category. In the future we also want to enter mimics in the breaded pork and fish categories. In blended meats, where we mix our poultry with mycoprotein, we can co-create with our customers in breaded, crispy and minced products. Think of a crispy tender or burger with 70% chicken and 30% mycoprotein. It tastes the same, but it is more sustainable and healthier! As we already serve European Retail, Foodservice, QSR and B2B in poultry and convenience meals and components, we are used to making ready end products in trays or bags, in boxes or crates, ready to use or in bulk.
