The Plukon Food Group B.V. and Mijwo Beheer B.V. have reached agreement on the merger of Plukon retail Netherlands and InterChicken Bodegraven.
Both InterChicken and the Plukon Food Group specialise in fresh pre-packaged products for supermarket chains in Northwestern Europe.
The Plukon Food Group currently has five locations in the Netherlands, three in Belgium and five in Germany and a total of 4,000 employees. Sales from the processing activities of the Plukon Food Group totalled around 1.3 billion euros in 2012.
InterChicken of Bodegraven not only focuses on supermarkets, but also traditional butchers and the out-of-home market. InterChicken has a total of 110 employees. Sales from the processing activities of InterChicken totalled around 115 billion euros in 2012.
The transaction is being submitted for approval to the relevant competition authorities and for advice to the Dutch works councils of both companies. The Merger Code of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER) has been followed.
The intended merger between InterChicken and Plukon retail Netherlands is based on the ambition of both companies to secure a leading position in the Dutch poultry meat market, with a focus on continuity and delivery quality.
Following the merger, the group will generate around 1.4 billion euros in turnover with more than 4,100 employees and 14 production locations and will process around 6.7 million chickens and turkeys every week.
